Who are we?
LCEA Alumni are graduates of the Lansdown Centre for Electronic Arts,
a post graduate research centre at Middlesex University in the UK.
Many alumni have set up their own new media businesses and consultancies.
Other alumni careers include graphic design, interactive media design,
new media research, game design, web site development and design,
animation, teaching, film making, audio design, journalism and various management
roles.
LCEA alumni have a good record for winning new media awards, including
BAFTAs, Milia, BIMA and others.

 This might not be for all, but if you are interested in web developments associated with Microsoft then Mix 08 maybe for you. The Microsoft bigwigs such as Steve Ballmer will be there giving keynote presentations. I assume the latest developments for Internet Explorer, Silverlight etc. will be revealed.
Part of my motivation to post this info was to get a nice looking graphic onto the page!?!

Artselector is currently inviting submissions of exciting contemporary fine art audio, visual and text based material.

The John Lansdown Prize for Interactive Digital Art |

All those working in interactive digital art are invited to submit for this international prize, awarded annually by the Eurographics Association.
The first prize has a cash value of 750 Euros and there is 250 Euros for the runner-up. The closing date for submission is 18th January 2008.
The criteria for the Award centre on the creative use of the digital medium for interactive art, in any form. The work submitted must have been created within the last two years.
Details of the winning entries from the 2007 and 2006 competitions have been published on the Eurographics Web site. |

For 3 days in March 2008, Mexico City and Toluca City will be hosting this major event. The last one was in 2002, so i suspect this latest event will reflect a lot of changes.
Topics include Aesthetics of Computer Art, Algorithmic Art, Genetic Art, Global Culture among many others.

Slovenia's premiere new media festival started on 7th Dec, called Green Desert, the festival has an environmental theme. If you are in Slovenia this week, check it out. The event continues until 15th Dec. The main event is at City Gallery Nova Gorica.

Turbulence are commissioning 10 pieces of work for users of ShiftSpace. By pressing the [Shift]+[Space] users can invoke a layer above a web page creating interpretations and interactions etc. with the page. This is called a Shift.
The commissions are split into two categories, Spaces and Trails. The commissions are open to anyone interested in the web.
The commissions range from $100 to $2000. The closing data is Feb 25th 2008. More details at the Turbulence ShiftSpace web site. |

I missed reporting this one! It looked good as well. However it looks like the exhibition runs until 16 December, so if you are in Bergen, Norway over the next month or so, it might be worth a visit.
Looks like a lot of hardware, interaction and audio involved, combined with Open Source software and 'hacking'?
