This is a fascinating read that came from the WAN’s (World Architecture Network) website. It’s about Dubai’s upcoming smash hit called the Dynamic Tower. It’s called dynamic because all of its 80 floors constantly move as it swivels and rotates independently of one another. This ensures that the tower will never look the same, like a dead clock which is only correct twice a day.
Inhabitants of this space will have to splash out between $3.7 million to $36 million (about $3,000 per square foot) for each condo. The building will revolve around a central spine ensuring that you will never get bored of the same old view. By the way, each rotation takes between 2 to 3 hours. What’s more, these expensive rotating homes are self sufficient powerhouses thanks to a wind turbine located in between each apartment.
The tower will not be open until completion which is set for 2010. Having said so, reservations are being taken as we speak. The penthouses seem to be to die for as owners will be able to control the rotation themselves.
And if you feel like buying into the idea, hang on to your horses as architects are planning to build the towers in Moscow and New York City all before 2011.
Check out two videos of the twirling tower here: http://www.dynamicarchitecture.net/

Here’s a little morning freakiness to get the juices pumping. I must warn you that if you have a weak heart or are viewing this in a library…well, it’s best to give it a miss. But if you want to see a real ghost, then here’s the place. This was taken at night (using night vision) and focuses on a chair which rocks all by itself. Trust me, it’s good, I’ve watched the clip myself. Be sure to turn the volume up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfZItov1BUo Be first to comment this article | Add as favourites (0) | Quote this article on your site |

This is pretty nifty if you’re travelling a lot. And it’s completely moot if you are bald or still think keeping unwashed hair ala Kurt Cobain is cool. Anyway we’re talking about the dissolving paper shampoo. Yup, that’s right. A shampoo that has been packaged as a piece of paper which dissolves and lathers just like shampoo does when in contact with water. It’s retailing for $12.50 a pop which consists of 30 sheets. And guess what? The range also includes dissolving paper laundry and dissolving paper soap. What is the world coming to? But it is practical nowadays especially when you’re only allowed xx millilitres of fluid on aeroplanes. Be first to comment this article | Add as favourites (0) | Quote this article on your site |

I don’t wear stockings. Well not this type anyway. But this is a pretty cool piece of advertising for those interested in stockings. And a note to bank robbers and petty thieves too!

I was utterly gob smacked after looking at this beautiful Trompe-l'œil Wall Mural created by English artist Julian Beever. It’s amazing that in spite of everything we know, we can still be fooled by the very sensory cues we rely on to perceive depth and space. According to his website at users.skynet.be/J.Beever/pave.htm, Julian specialised in pavement paintings where his medium is usually chalk. He has about 10 years experience and is world famous for his 3D art renderings (using chalk on sidewalks) using a technique called the anamorphosis projection. That is to create the illusion of a 3D object when viewed from a specific angle.

We’re all looking for the elixir of life. From make up to nips and tucks to pantyhose that hide your bits, etc. But take a leaf out of Li Ching Yun’s book and you may live up to 256! The secret? "…Keep a quiet heart, sit like a tortoise, walk sprightly like a pigeon and sleep like a dog…"
Li Ching Yun says that he was born in 1736 which would mean he has been around for 197 years. But in the 30’s, professor and Dean Wu Chung-Chien of the Minkuo University proved that Li was actually born in 1677. That makes him an astounding 256 years old. Apparently, on his 150th and 200th birthday, he was congratulated by the Imperial Chinese Government. How’s that for living forever.
