Ever wondered what goes into the design of one of the world’s most iconic cars? Well, now here’s a chance for us to have a peek into the minds of award winning designers.
This website http://www.bmwblog.com/2008/08/08/behind-the-design-of-the-bmw-7-series/, has posted an interesting article about the behind-the-scene story of the design of the BMW 7 Series.
According to them, the first stage of the process is a competition to amongst designers and modellers to find the ideal shape and design of the interior and exterior of the car. Then, complete (with actual size) models of the car is made using clay. Then comes what I think is the best part. The clay model is coated with a thin film to replicate the actual paintwork of the real car. This allows the team working on the car to visualise the car in 3d.
Such attention and detail goes into the car. No wonder the BMW brand is synonymous with quality. Have a look at the pictures posted on the website, it’s well worth it. I don’t have a BMW 7 Series but I’d happily settle for the clay 1:1 model! Be first to comment this article | Add as favourites (0) | Quote this article on your site |

If you like hot dogs like my mother does, I think you’d agree this has to be the most bizarre hot dog ever. The US has come up with yet another marvel of creation, the Homewrecker!
I’m talking about a hot dog so named in the state of Western Virginia. Behold the 3.5 pound artery-clogging-chest-grasping machine. Only served at HillBilly Hotdogs if you were tempted at giving it a bite. Apparently, if you can finish (what probably constitutes 4 meals all at once) it in under 4 minutes, then the meal is free, saving you $14.99 but a whole lot more on medical bills if you plan to make this a staple piece (or the only item) of your diet.
The Homewrecker starts off with deep frying a 15’’ sausage which is topped off with peepers, onions, nacho cheese, chili sauce, jalapenos, mustard, ketchup, coleslaw and shredded cheese. Just to make it healthy, it also comes with some tomatoes and lettuce. Just like having a Big Mac, fries and a side of Diet Coke!
That is one mother of a hot dog…it’s as big as my face!! Be first to comment this article | Add as favourites (0) | Quote this article on your site |

I love this. Perhaps that has something to do with me being somewhat a cat fanatic…a canatic!

This is a great piece of totally useless piece of junk. One that you will be wishing for more cat barf just so that you can whip it out and use it. It’s so kitsch I wish I had it. Be first to comment this article | Add as favourites (0) | Quote this article on your site |

Have you heard of the body painter Emma-Jane Cammack? She is a British body painter who has worked for the film, TV and advertising industries worldwide. No wonder that some of her clientele include names such as Warner Bro’s, Dreamworks, TCM, Sky, BMW, Nike, Disney and Ikea.
You can catch some of her at the Barbican Art Gallery. She is there for the Exhibitionism Show which runs from 19 June 08 starting at 6:30 pm until 10:00 pm. “…Let them eat cake…”, is something that Marie Antoinette apparently didn’t say. But if this cake was on offer I’d gladly have some.
Aptly named the Impressionist Cake this one is a 3 tiered wonder that I’m certain Van Gogh would have been proud of. Taken from her Flickr page (http://www.flickr.com/photos/megpi/2717513321/), kudos to you Megpi! Be first to comment this article | Add as favourites (0) | Quote this article on your site |

It just only came out in cinemas nationwide and they’re already thinking of a sequel. It just shows what $ 314 million in just 10 days can do!
Apparently, Christian Bale will be reprising his role as the dark knight of Gotham City. But producers are thinking of recruiting mother-of-humanity Angelina Jolie to play none other than Catwoman. I definitely think she would be a much better Catwoman than Halle Berry was. Then there’s Phillip Seymour Hoffman who may be playing the Penguin. Kind of funny but he does resemble the Penguin in certain poses. Of course we have to add Johnny Depp to this group of A-listers. Mr Depp is touted to play the role of The Riddler. I can’t think of a better actor. In fact, I think that he can take on any role out there.
I could just die of anticipation…and I haven’t even watched the Dark Knight yet! Be first to comment this article | Add as favourites (0) | Quote this article on your site |

I think this is pure gadget porn. It sure makes airport transits more interesting. Terminal B at Dallas Fort Worth has introduced the vending machine which stocks all sorts of electronics.
The electronics megastore Best Buy teamed up with Zoom Systems to introduce this machine which boasts some of the best selling portable electronics on the market today such as digital cameras, Bluetooth headsets, Bose noise cancelling headphones, memory sticks and even Apple iPods. How insane is that?
According to officials at Zoom, they have been making vending machines that spit out (almost) everything for some time now. Apparently, an iPod vending machine located at the Atlanta airport sold about $ 55,000 worth of iPods in a month. That equates to roughly seven pieces a day!
If only money did grow on trees…sigh. Be first to comment this article | Add as favourites (0) | Quote this article on your site |

I think having one of these things will shoot your coolness status through the roof and possibly through the stratospheres too! This is just so uber cool. Introducing what will be the world’s smallest projector designed to fit in your mobile phone!
OK so they don’t yet have it ready yet for the mobile phone but the idea comes from the Australian company called Mint Wireless. They have developed this tiny commercial projector called the Mint V10. It measures around 4.9’’ x 2.1’’ x 0.9’’ and has a mighty 20,000 hour LED lamp which (wow!) doesn’t need to be warmed up like its mammoth cousins. The projector is selling for $ 649 and has a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels plus a 1GB internal memory (and you can add an SD card if that isn’t enough memory). Did I mention it comes with in-built stereo speakers too? Be first to comment this article | Add as favourites (0) | Quote this article on your site |

Recently my father bought himself a pair of vintage Levi’s jeans. But I doubt the pair he purchased is over 100 years old!
As is probably common knowledge by now, Levi’s jeans started out as the staple outfit of American miners in and around the late 1800’s. They were valuable because of their durability and ability to withstand a lot of wear and tear. It wasn’t much different for the miners in the Rand Mining District on the Mojave Desert in California either. And that’s where this old pair was found together with an old paper bag which was found to belong to a mercantile store which operated between 1895 and 1898 in Ransburg. The other item of interest was a gunny sack with the initials A.P.K printed on it. The logical guess is that A.P.K stands for Adam P. Kuffel who was a partner in the aforementioned store.
So if you’re interested in purchasing the worn out jeans, head over to the eBay auction site where the bidding has already gone over $15,000. The size is waist 34 and length 33. if you do buy it, I’d recommend washing it before wearing because the jeans are covered with splatters of candle wax from the candle the miner used to light his way through the mines. Other than that, I think we can assume the jeans have a stone washed look to it.
PS: I JUST CHECKED AND BIDDING HAS ENDED. THE WINNING BID FOR THE JEANS WAS $36,099.00! Be first to comment this article | Add as favourites (0) | Quote this article on your site |
