I just love it when they come up with smart advertising. It’s like a breath of fresh air.
This picture says it all. It is for the Wah Lum Kung Fu School in Boston which is a member of the United States Kung Fu Wushu Federation. They teach the Wah Lum system which was started in Boston’s Chinatown 35 years ago by Grandmaster Chan Pui.
And remember: don’t mess with the masta! Be first to comment this article | Add as favourites (0) | Quote this article on your site |

I have a comment to add about the post I Love Mail LCEA ALUMNI - Monday, 09 June 2008 © LCEA ALUMNI
The cards are only available for the time being in Malaysia. Hopefully they will extend their range overseas soon.

Have a look at this website: http://www.enveluv.com/.
We all love getting cards (or anything for that matter) in the mail. But it seems that we’re happier to receive than to send. It’s easy to understand why, with the hassle of going to the post office, etc. So just get Enveluv to do all the leg work for you. All you have to do is register at the website, pick a theme for the card (New Year, Valentines, etc), pick a template for the card, key in your recipient and their address and the rest is history. The group at Enveluv will print out the card with your message on it and even deliver it (by snail mail) to your dearest. Yup that’s right…we’re talking a real card…in the mail. Just as if you’d have written it yourself! How cool is that. All the designs are original designs so you won’t find them on Hallmark or elsewhere. You want unique…well here it is.

This is a great piece of advertising if I ever saw one before. While I was studying in England, I used to eat Papa John’s pizza and loved it. Well, who doesn’t like pizza right? In Malaysia, Papa John isn’t available and the pizza business is dominated by chains like Pizza Hut and Domino’s Pizza.

This guerrilla advertising technique (I wonder why they call it that) made me smile from ear to ear. Simply because of its simplicity! Kudos to the team or person who came up with the idea. Actually it was the team of Quorum/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi.
The gimmick works using a sticker attached just below the peephole (on the outside, of course silly!). And this creates a splendid optical illusion that big Papa can read minds and just knew you could do with one of their steaming splendour packs! Deservedly, it has already won the Gold Lion award at the Cannes Advertising Festival for its use of alternative media in direct marketing.
It’s crazy what a little imagination can do.

If I ever wanted a cake with attitude, this would be it. Plus if you’re a big Mario fan, you’d probably be too thrilled to eat the cake. Which begs the question; can you both eat the cake and look at it at the same time? It was created by Su Yin (her blog can be found at http://cookingismypassion.blogspot.com). I was browsing through it where you can also find photos documenting the various stages of the cake making, and I’d her brownie points for dedication alone. Her cakes (incidentally this one is called the “Geek-ful Cake”) always begin with sketches of what will make. This one took 2 weeks to come up with the final piece on paper. Then add another 2 days for the actual cake making and voila! Perfection.

Imagine this. On a quiet night you wake from sleep feeling the urge. So you stumble with a heavy head to the toilet. Just as you’re about to sit on the throne the toilet bowl starts gurgling. The water splashes even more and it spits and spews. You run your eyes thinking that you are still asleep and having a nightmare. And you pinch yourself even harder when it starts to dawn upon you that you ARE actually awake. Your mind races thinking back to all the horror films you’ve watched in your life; Freddie Krueger and especially IT. You want to run and scream but where would you go? Some madness propels you to stay where you are…and you do. Then, you see something round come out from the abyss of the toilet. It looks like ball of hair. And then it turns out to be a head. You hold back an inner scream thinking that the past owners of your house were really serial killers and you have just found one of their victims! What emerges from the toilet bowl is looking even scarier with bulging eyes and pointed ears. It is staring right at you panting hard. The toilet had given birth!
You blink and you let out a sigh of relief. It is a possum! Lucky fellow made it up your toilet bowl to safety. So what’s the logical thing to do? Run and get your camera and post a video to YouTube of course! Have a look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wxr0QqIT2sI

That’s exactly what this Aussie did when a possum came through his pipes. Thankfully, Tim Fraser wasn’t on the oval office when the possum decided to peek through. What must have happened was the possum got stuck in the piping (don’t ask how) and had to climb through a 100mm wide pipe for air and safety. And don’t forget the S-bend comes with every toilet fixture. That’s typically closest to the wall where the pipes disappear. The S-bend functions by creating a water filled seal in between flushes.

$3Tn = sending 500 astronauts to Mars (and back again).
$3Tn = building modern cities in China for 600,000,000 people.
$3Tn = cutting carbon emissions entirely.
$3Tn = eliminating childhood diseased in South East Asia.
INSTEAD:
$50Bn = spent in a week on the Iraq war (a sixth could have been used to remedy America’s social security system for almost 100 years without cutting benefits or burdening the public).
So, what could you have done with either $523Bn (low end) or $6Tn (high end)?

I would advice you not to be snacking while you’re reading this post.
I love bread! I really do…and I think I could actually live on bread alone. But this is too much http://shapeandcolour.wordpress.com/2008/05/15/kittiwat-unarrom-body-bakery/. The Body Baker in Thailand is a son of a baker. I suppose when it came to his time to start with the family business, he wanted to try something novel. And so he did, baking bread resembling dismembered body parts.
His shelves look more like they belong to a serial killer who has an appetite for his victims rather than a bread baker. I am still debating whether or not to be completely amazed or completely revolted and repulsed.
The body parts are so authentic they even come with food colouring to resemble dried blood. And if you happen to be a cannibal, I suppose this is one way to quash your lust for human flesh. I wonder how it would feel to be eating his delicacy bread while watching a gruesome zombie movie. Have a look at the You Tube movie while you’re at it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKSO7m3-MH8.
