Who are we?

LCEA Alumni are graduates of the Lansdown Centre for Electronic Arts, a post graduate research centre at Middlesex University in the UK.

Many alumni have set up their own new media businesses and consultancies. Other alumni careers include graphic design, interactive media design, new media research, game design, web site development and design, animation, teaching, film making, audio design, journalism and various management roles.

LCEA alumni have a good record for winning new media awards, including BAFTAs, Milia, BIMA and others.

Guess what, MC Hammer has a blog! Simply called http://mchammer.blogspot.com/ it’s an interesting bit of light reading. I liked the Hammer and still do. Apparently he is now a preacher somewhere in the states.

The story goes that his hit song, "U Can't Touch This" became an overnight pop success when it was released in 1990. Transforming MC Hammer into a superstar with endorsement deals with Pepso and KFC. Sadly, with lack of knowledge on how to spend and save, Hammer spent $30 million on a spending spree which included purchases such as mansions and a $500,000-a-month salary. Two less than exciting albums later and a few more poor investments led Hammer to declare himself a bankrupt in 1996 with an estimate of over $13 million in debt.

(But I did love the super jodhpurs he wore for the music video)

How on earth does this sort of thing happen? But the point of this entry is to recommend viewing this YouTube video I found on his blog. It’s called Christian the Lion – the Whole Story (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adYbFQFXG0U). It’s such a sweet story I cried a little.
