Who are we?

LCEA Alumni are graduates of the Lansdown Centre for Electronic Arts, a post graduate research centre at Middlesex University in the UK.

Many alumni have set up their own new media businesses and consultancies. Other alumni careers include graphic design, interactive media design, new media research, game design, web site development and design, animation, teaching, film making, audio design, journalism and various management roles.

LCEA alumni have a good record for winning new media awards, including BAFTAs, Milia, BIMA and others.

I think we've all been guilty of this one before. Some perhaps more than others. The term is 'communifaking' [Definition: an act of pretending to be on your phone. Either calling, texting or surfing the web when in actual fact you're faking it].

Yup, I think there are many out there just nodding right now. The reasons for doing this are many. You could be avoiding conversation with strange people who are trying out corny chat up lines on you. Or you could be steering away from 'familiar' people at wedding receptions and get-togethers. If saying what was on your mind was acceptable then this would not be necessary. But for the sake of family relations and world peace, you grab your mobile and just pretend.

Researchers (yeah they did a study on this) claim that 43% of adult women compared to 32% of adult men communifake now and then. And not forgetting the 74% of 18-24 year old's who do it too.
